Research area: Healthcare Science

The doctoral school in healthcare science takes a holistic view of the human and aims for students to develop knowledge about how physical, mental, and social health can be promoted, maintained, or regained, and how illness can be prevented, alleviated, and cared for at the individual, group, or societal level.

It also includes people's resources and needs for care and support in the various stages of life based on the person's own perspective, as well as the perspective of relatives, caregivers and organisations.

The school advocates research on theories and methods, risk, prognosis as well as disease prevention, rehabilitation and care. Study designs in the research area can advantageously be process and effect evaluation, feasibility studies, intervention, or implementation studies. Areas not covered include biomedical and preclinical research as well as pharmaceutical research.
