Aim

The aim of the course is to provide a basic knowledge of Stata, a statistical software program, for the analysis of epidemiological data.

Learning outcomes

After successfully completing this course students should be able to:

  • use Stata to perform exploratory data analysis, data cleaning, and prepare data for statistical analysis.
  • perform standard epidemiological analyses in Stata in an efficient and effective manner.
  • produce descriptive statistics and publication quality graphs using Stata.

Contents of the course

The course is designed to gently introduce students to basic commands useful in epidemiological research.

It will focus on the commands that users should know in order to enter, manipulate, and present data. Specific topics include tables and regression models for epidemiologists, assessment of confounding and interaction, and common graphical representations.
