Thesis on infective endocarditis after valve surgery
Infective endocarditis following valve surgery is a rare but life-threatening infection. In a new doctoral thesis from Karolinska Institutet, PhD student Lisa Bearpark from the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery investigates which patient groups are at particular risk for infective endocarditis.

Thesis maps firearm injuries in Sweden
Firearm injuries have increased significantly in Sweden over the past decade, and with them the need for medical understanding about how best to treat these injuries. In a new doctoral thesis from Karolinska Institutet, Karolina Nyberger, doctoral student at the Vascular Surgery group at the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, examines the injury pattern in gun violence, with a particular focus on bleeding and vascular injuries.

Thesis on groin hernia surgery in women

Helene Lindfors, PhD student at the Endocrine Surgery research group, the Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery, will defend her thesis "Tumor burden, thyroglobulin and Ki-67 as prognostic indicators in papillary thyroid cancer" on April 2025. Main supervisor is Ivan Shabo.
