Registration and credit transfer KI SÖS

Doctoral courses

Participation in doctoral courses organised by KI is registered automatically according to the credits assigned to each course. For doctoral courses organised by other universities and other relevant courses (for example specialist training courses), credits are not registered automatically. To receive credit transfer, documentation must be submitted to the Director of Doctoral Studies for review and credit assessment. Complete, sign and send Form 13 together with full supporting documentation to forskarutbildning@kisos.ki.se.

Scientific conference

Participation in an international conference with your own presentation is worth 1.5 credits. Keep documentation confirming your participation and activity at the conference. To receive credit transfer, documentation must be submitted to the Director of Doctoral Studies for review. Participation in a conference, or part of a conference, without your own presentation may be reported under seminar activities if the subject area falls within the relevant field of research (see below). Provide the full name of the conference, location and dates, and send Form 16 together with full supporting documentation to forskarutbildning@kisos.ki.se.

Research placement with a research group at another university

Keep clear documentation and a description of your placement. The documentation should include information about the duration and activities involved. The documentation must be signed by a representative of the host research group. Complete and send Form 16 together with full supporting documentation to forskarutbildning@kisos.ki.se.

Teaching activities

Credits are awarded for teaching in undergraduate education. Keep the course timetable and/or a certificate from the Director of Studies or another course coordinator confirming your teaching involvement.

Seminars, journal clubs and workshops

Credits for seminar activities are mandatory within doctoral education at KI. As a rule of thumb, 20 seminars or 12 journal clubs are worth 1.5 credits. The number of credits awarded also depends partly on the content and scope.

The following activities are suggested, but not limited to

• research seminars at KI or hospitals
• ISP seminar
• attendance at another doctoral student's public defence or mid-term seminar
• journal clubs
• other scheduled (advertised) meetings with a scientific focus

The seminar activities you have participated in should be recorded in a document under the headings seminars, journal clubs and workshops and certified by your principal supervisor. 

Complete and send Form 16 together with full supporting documentation to forskarutbildning@kisos.ki.se.

Other

Compile your credit-bearing activities for an annual review together with your supervisors. You may submit the documents to the Director of Doctoral Studies for credit assessment and registration either annually or before the mid-term review and public defence. If you choose the latter, it is still important to review your doctoral education credit plan annually. If the actual circumstances differ significantly from your study plan, the study plan must be revised.
