One of the main research areas is studies in motor and cognitive functions with the assistance of modern brain imaging techniques as magnet and PET cameras. The research groups have also room for a well equipped motor laboratory for the studies of different movement functions.

Many different specialists are thus engaged in this research, such as physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, speech therapists and psychologists as well as brain specialists, biologists and engineers.
