Short term project in Pediatric Oncology
At the Division of Pediatric Oncology and Surgery we are welcoming students for different types of short-term projects, for example Degree projects, Master thesis, Bachelor projects, ST-projects, research training etc. On this page we list current projects that would be suitable for short term work in our research groups. Spatial multi-omics and heterogenity in neuroblastoma
Our group is looking for one or two eager students (preferably at master level) to join our lab for a 20-week project.
Our laboratory focuses on improving cancer treatments by understanding the spatial interplay between tumour cells using a panel of novel multiplex immunofluorescence techniques. We also want to understand why patients with the same diagnosis respond differently to the same treatment, in order to be able to find targeted treatments and reduce the risk of therapy resistance and relapse.
Student project 1: Spatial profiling of neuroblastoma using data-driven analysis.
Student project 2: Investigation of antimetabolites in combination with targeted drugs as a novel treatment option in high-risk neuroblastoma

Understanding and preventing damage to the growing skeleton caused by radiotherapy
Radiotherapy is an important part of childhood cancer therapy and will remain so during the forthcoming decades. Whilst highly effective, radiotherapy can cause severe side-effects on the growing skeleton. These skeletal malformations, such as irregular body proportions and spinal curvature, persist in childhood cancer survivors throughout their adult lives. Using conditional knockout mouse models combined with in vivo radiation protocols, our lab aims to better understand and prevent these so-called skeletal-late effects. We offer a creative and inspiring environment and are looking for friendly, enthusiastic and ambitious students to participate in this project.
