Room description

• Private room, size 16 square meters
• Furnished with a single bed (size 90 x 200 cm), desk, bookshelf, chair and two lamps
• The bed is equipped with mattress, pillow and quilt

Rent

The rent will be SEK 4284 per month.

We offer rooms in one kind of corridor;

• KI Housing corridor (all students are KI Housing tenants)

Furniture

The tenant is responsible for keeping the rom (and its furniture) clean during the whole lease and for leaving it clean for the new tenant.

Deficiencies regarding the inventory must be reported to the KI Housing office. When a student is leaving, damaged and/or missing items will be replaced and charged to the tenant.

Bedlinen

The rooms are equipped with mattress, mattress cover, quilt (size 150x200 cm) and pillow (size 50x60 cm). Please note that you need to bring your own bed linen and towels.

TV

The dorm rooms are not equipped with TV-sets.

Internet

Internet is provided by SSSB in this area. Broadband is installed in all student rooms and a LAN cable marked “KI cable” is provided. Note that there is no WiFi in the building. If you want to have wireless internet, you must buy your own router.

You may start using Internet as soon as you arrive. However, please note that you must follow this internet guide and register on a portal provided by Telenor to be able to use the internet service. Please note that several tenants have had problems with registering from time to time, sometimes it can take up to several weeks to get it fixed. If you experience problems, please submit a maintenance request in the customer portal. A mobile broadband can be bought in any 7-eleven or Pressbyrån store if you need to access Internet before the problem has been solved.

Common kitchens

There is a kitchen in the corridor with stoves, refrigerator and freezer. The kitchen is furnished with tables and chairs. Every student has one cupboard, one shelf in the fridge and half a shelf in the freezer.

The kitchens in KI Housing corridors have basic kitchen equipment such as microwaves, hot water kettles, pots and pans.

Common areas – code of conduct

Anyone using our common kitchens is responsible for keeping them clean and leaving them in good order after use. Please see our information about rules and regulations that you as a tenant must follow and refer to.

Cleaning equipment

Cleaning equipment is available in all corridors.

Garbage disposal

The garbage facilities are placed outside the main entrance at Armégatan 32, in a separate house near the parking lot. There are two rooms, one for domestic waste (to be put in tightly sealed plastic bags) and one for heavy garbage.

There is a recycling station for glass, metal, newspapers and cardboards outside the garbage facilities. For most types of cans and bottles bought in Sweden you receive a refund at the grocery stores.

Please note that the waste separation facilities at Strix will be closed during the construction period. SSSB asks you to use the temporary containers where you can throw your household waste and separate the rest into fractions. Note that it will not be possible to throw any bulky waste in the temporary containers during this period.

Laundry room

The laundry room is located in the basement. Use your electronic key for booking and entering the laundry room.

Electronic key tag system

The common areas (e.g. the laundry room, kitchen and entrance) are fitted with electronic key tag readers for a safer living environment and to reduce the risk of vandalism. All use of electronic key tags is registered and SSSB may make use of this information in connection with acts of e.g. vandalism in the property. SSSB can also block an electronic key tag in case you lose it, thereby preventing unauthorized entry. Each electronic key tag is personal. Never exchange keys with your neighbor or lend one to someone not authorized to use it since you will be held responsible if anything should happen.

Mailboxes

In Strix, all mailboxes are located in the main entrance.

If you receive a parcel too large to fit in the mailbox, you will get a notification from the post office telling you where to pick up the parcel.

Bike storage

There are two bicycle rooms in the building.

Smoke detectors

The rooms are equipped with smoke detectors. KI Housing checks the detector between tenants and the tenant is responsible for notifying us of any deficiency of the detector during the tenancy. If you hear a beeping sound, the battery of the detector needs to be exchanged. Please remove it and submit a maintenance service request in the customer portal.

Fire safety

Every single room, common kitchen and common corridor in Strix is a separate fire cell. To prevent spreading any smoke or fire all doors must be kept closed. It is the responsibility of every tenant to see that the doors are kept closed between the different areas.

Location

How to get here from the central station

Take the subway from T-Centralen, the blue line towards Akalla/Hjulsta. Get off at Västra Skogen.* Walk over the square towards the walking paths/cycle ways where you can see the sign “Studentbostäder”.

On the other side of the road you see a red brick building, Strix (Armégatan 32). If you take the path through the tunnel, you will get there in a few minutes.

How to get to KI Campus Solna

The KI Campus in Solna is located about 3.5 kilometers from Strix.

You may take bus No 507 towards “Odenplan” from Västra Skogen. Get off at “Karolinska sjukhuset Eugeniavägen”.* The travel time is about 20 minutes.

How to get to KI Campus Flemingsberg

You may choose between the following alternatives:

– Go to the KI Campus in Solna. From there you may take the free shuttle bus that connects the Solna and Flemingsberg Campuses (only on weekdays).The journey from KI Campus in Solna to KI Campus Flemingsberg takes approximately 30 minutes, depending on the traffic situation.

– Take the subway from Västra Skogen towards Kungsträdgården. Get off at T-Centralen where you may catch the commuter train towards Södertälje. Get off at Flemingsberg.* From there you may walk to the Campus in Flemingsberg (about 600 meters). The average travel time from door to door is about 50-55 minutes.
