Allocation of funding 2022
The Committee for Research has on November 9, 2022, decided on the allocation of the funding for eight positions as Assistant Professor, four positions as Senior Research Specialist/Principal Researcher and nine Consolidator grants for researchers already employed by KI. The applicants that has been awarded with funding and approved publication of their name on the website are listed below in alphabetical order.
The awarded candidates for funding as Assistant Professor are:

- Arvid Guterstam
- Leo Hanke
- Kyla McKay
- Paul Petrus
- Amirata Saei Dibavar
- Stefanos Stagkourakis
- Christoph Ziegenhain
The awarded candidates, who were selected from 125 qualified applicants, will receive up to 1.0 million SEK per year over six years to be used for own salary. Additionally, 1.0 million SEK will be available for the awarded applicants as a startup contribution for research.
The awarded candidates for funding as Senior Research Specialist/Principal Researcher (extension of existing employment as Assistant Professor, in Swedish forskarassistent) are:
- Olena Gruzieva, Institute of Environmental Medicine (IMM)
- Carolina Hagberg, Department of Medicine, Solna
- Karolina Kauppi, Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics
- Federico Pietrocola, Department of Biosciences and Nutrition
The awarded candidates, who were selected from 14 qualified applicants, will receive 1.0 million SEK per year over two years to be used for own salary.
The awarded candidates for the Consolidator grant are:
- Laura Baranello, Department of Cell and Molecular Biology
- Pauliina Damdimopoulou, Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology
- Michael Landreh, Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology
- Volker Lauschke, Department of Physiology and Pharmacology
- Edmund Loh, Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology
- Ulrika Marklund, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics
- Ljubica Matic, Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery
- Benjamin Murrell, Department of Microbiology, Tumor and Cell Biology
- Björn Reinius, Department of Medical Biochemistry and Biophysics
The awarded candidates, who were selected from 71 qualified applicants, will receive up to 1.2 million SEK per year over five years to be used for own salary. Up to 50 percent may be used for research related costs.
Should one of the above turn down the funding, he or she will be replaced by the first name on the respective reserve list.
