Forskningsbeskrivning

Som docent i epidemiologi vid institutionen för klinisk neurovetenskap, sektionen för försäkringsmedicin, leder jag en forskargrupp med fokus på individuella faktorer, arv och miljö i relation till sjuklighet och sjukfrånvaro (sjukskrivning, sjuk- eller aktivitetsersättning).

Min forskning är främst inriktad på samband mellan olika hälsoaspekter, livsstils- och arbetsrelaterade faktorer, morbiditet och sjukfrånvaro. Tyngdpunkten ligger på rörelseorganens sjukdomar och psykisk ohälsa. Jag är huvudansvarig för flera sådana studier baserade på tvillingkohorter. Tvillingstudier erbjuder starka metodologiska fördelar där det är möjligt att undersöka, och ta hänsyn till, familjära influenser (arv och delad/tidig miljö). Såväl data från enkätundersökningar som nationella registerdata används i våra studier.

I forskargruppen ingår doktorander samt postdocs och forskningen bedrivs i samarbete med internationellt erkända experter inom tvillingforskning, arbete och hälsa, psykologi, stress, fysioterapi, statistik, epidemiologi och försäkringsmedicin.
