About me

    1995 BSc Psychology, Uppsala University

Research

  • As an Associate Professor of Epidemiology at the Department of Clinical
Neuroscience, Division of Insurance medicine, I am head of a research group
focusing on individual factors, genetics and environment in relation
to morbidity and work disability (sickness absence, disability pension).
My research focuses primarily on health aspects, life-style and work
related factors in association to morbidity and work disability. Main
focus is on musculoskeletal and mental disorders. I am the principal
investigator of several such studies based on large twin cohorts, involving
PhD-students and Postdocs. Twin study designs offer strong methodological
advantages where it is possible to investigate and take familial influences
(genetics and shared/early environment) into account. Surveys as well as
national register data are used. My research is conducted in collaboration
with internationally renowned experts in the fields of twin research, work
and health, psychology, stress, psychiatry, physiotherapy, statistics, epidemiology and
    insurance medicine.
