Our research focuses on cancer and endocrine disruption, including mechanisms, risk assessment, and prevention. To understand the mechanisms behind these health effects we work with different cellular models and analyze different databases. We also develop new risk assessment methodologies. Other areas of interest include combined effects and sex differences. Progress in these areas will lead to improved risk assessment and development of prevention strategies.
Our main objectives are to understand the role of complex mixtures in the development of cancer and other diseases and to investigate the mechanisms responsible for mixture toxicity in order to improve the health risk assessment of environmental pollution.
We conduct research with the aim to develop methodology for hazard and risk assessment of chemicals, with a focus on endocrine disruptors and chemical mixtures.
We analyze sex differences in response to carcinogens and the carcinogenic effects of silica. The goal of the projects is to improve the scientific base for risk assessment.
We conduct research with focus on understanding toxic effects, underlying mechanisms and health risks of various particles including urban air pollution nanoparticles, particles from occupational settings (welding, 3D-printing) as well as nano- and microplastics.
