Education in nursing
The division of nursing conducts undergraduate programmes for nurses as well as education for graduate diploma in specialist nursing. In addition, we offer master´s courses, single-subject courses and postgraduate programmes for doctoral students.
Karolinska Institutet strives to offer nursing education where research, education and clinic are integrated. The overall goal for the division of nursing is to develop care science in education and in research. The division of nursing wishes to act as an academic arena that takes part in the international development of care sciences in research and profession.
The foundation for care sciences and nursing is to care for individuals while healthy and unhealthy, to ease suffering, to care for patients´ well-being and to protect the dignity of the individual in the care situation. The discipline is characterized by a comprehensive view of the patient, where physical, psychological, cultural and emotional aspects of health and suffering are considered, and where each patients´ right to individualized care is in focus. We strive to offer nursing education where education, clinic and research are integrated. This approach aims to make our students well prepared for their upcoming professional careers, and will lay the foundation for a life-long learning process as well for a future career in research.

There are great opportunities within the nursing programme to do a period of your education abroad. To carry out your work-based training or study a theoretical course in another country is something that provides you with new experiences. The studies are IT-based and is conducted largely via the computer platform Ping Pong..
To be able to take part of the course content required a computer with Internet and basic computer skills eg. to handle word processing programs like Word, Internet and e-mail. During training, there are also e-meetings at the communication platform Adobe Connect.
