Zhi Peng

My research focuses on adipose tissue plasticity in response to dietary interventions and the mechanisms underlying benign adipose tumour formation, using integrative single-cell genomics. During my postdoc fellowship, I entered adipose tissue research through a study combining a dietary-switch model with single-nucleus and spatial transcriptomics to define adipose and intestinal cell-state remodelling. Building on this work, I now investigate human lipoma origin through integrated transcriptomic, epigenomic and lipidomic analyses. My current research responsibilities centre on computational analysis, interpretation and conceptual development. I also bring hands-on expertise in molecular biology, cell biology, tissue histology and protein assays acquired during my PhD, enabling me to independently carry out relevant wet-lab experiments and connect computational discoveries with functional validation.

My research interests spans multi-omics bioinformatics, adipose tissue biology and embryonic intervertebral disc development.
