About me

  • I completed my PhD at Karolinska Institutet with the dissertation “People with Multiple Sclerosis in Stockholm – aspects of motor and cognitive function, activities of daily living and social/lifestyle activities.” Since 2024, I have been affiliated with Karolinska Institutet for teaching and tutoring. I have been employed as a registered physiotherapist with specialist competence in neurology at Karolinska University Hospital, Stockholm, since 1996, and since 2008 I have been employed as a physiotherapist holding a doctoral degree.

Research

  • The research lines that I have pursued after completing my doctoral degree, during which I have worked independently from my supervisors, include:
    a) translations and psychometric testing of questionnaires applicable in clinical practice;
    b) a clinical randomized controlled trial involving the use of a patient education program for COPD, developed by the project team, delivered through interactive 3D visualization technology;
    c) long‑term follow‑up after therapeutic hypothermia in children with asphyxia, including the evaluation of physical activity, motor competence, and executive functions;
    d) a qualitative study exploring the experiences of being a close relative of a person who has fallen ill with Guillain–Barré syndrome;
    e) an implementation study evaluating early diagnostics, including an assessment of the validity of physiotherapist‑led evaluations in the emergency department.

    My future research will continue within the fields of physiotherapy, translations and psychometric testing, neurology, health services research, and e‑health, with a focus on clinically oriented research.

Teaching

  • I have the privilege of serving as a faculty member in the physiotherapy programme, where I teach and supervise students at the undergraduate and advanced levels, primarily within the field of physiotherapy. To date, I have supervised 27 theses, including 5 at the advanced level and 22 at the undergraduate level through to examination. The doctoral student for whom I served as co‑supervisor successfully defended her thesis in 2025.
