About me

  • I am a medical doctor currently pursuing a PhD in neuroscience at the
    Marianne Bernadotte Centrum, Karolinska Insitutet.

Research

  • My research is aimed at investigating the multisensory control of eye
movements from a broad, translational perspective. My clinical studies aim to
quantify the visual, vestibular, and somatosensory components influencing
reflexive eye movements. Through the use of eye-tracking, we quantify these
involuntary responses so as to allow important clinical context for patients
suffering from sensory impairments. This work focuses primarily on vertigo,
motion-sickness, and spatial disorientation. My ambition is to work towards
establishing quantifiable measurements of these subjective symptoms,
providing patients and clinicians with valuable context for symptoms,
    treatments and other follow-up procedures.
In order to better understand the nature of these results, I also perform
basic science experiments aiming to elucidate the neural network
underlying the multisensory control of eye movements. These studies
primarily target the brainstem, which we investigate through
electrophysiological recordings combined with anatomical mapping. As we learn
more about the basic mechanisms involved in eye movement control, we adapt
and develop our clinical studies, and vice versa.
