Thais de Castro Barbosa

As a Research Funding Advisor in KI’s Grants Office (Pre-Award Team), I support KI researchers in the preparation of competitive applications for EU funding.

My work focuses primarily on collaborative project applications within Horizon Europe Pillar II, including Mission Cancer, as well as the Horizon Europe Research Infrastructures programmes.

I hold a PhD in Science with emphasis in Physiology and have several years of research experience at KI. This background allows me to fully understand the importance of securing international research funding, and the complexity of navigating the administrative and compliance requirements of funding organizations, particularly those of the European Commission.

In my role, I provide strategic support for proposal development and guide researchers throughout the entire application process, from concept to project start. Together with my colleagues at the Grants Office, I also organize courses, workshops and seminars on research funding opportunities, with a focus on European funding programmes.
