About me

  • I am a Chemical Engineer graduated from the University of Bath (UK), with additional training in Biomolecular Technology from the University of Nottingham (UK) and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Imperial College London (UK). During my doctoral research, I worked on stem cell biology and regenerative medicine, which led to my interest in translational hematology research.

I joined Karolinska Institutet in 2012 and currently work as a Senior Research Specialist and Biobank Manager at the Center for Hematology and Regenerative Medicine (HERM), in the research group led by Eva Hellström-Lindberg. My work focuses on hematopoietic stem cells and myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), combining stem cell biology, flow cytometry, biobanking and translational research approaches to better understand disease development and progression.

Research

  • My current research focuses on stem cells in low-risk myelodysplastic syndromes (MDS), particularly their isolation and functional characterization. I work with 3D culture systems, multicolor flow cytometry and leukemic stem cell biology.

I am also involved in biobanking activities at HERM and in the development of a new and improved biobank platform to support future clinical and translational research in hematological diseases.
