Elinor Nemlander
About me
I am a specialist in Family Medicine working at the intersection of routine primary care, cancer research, and real-world data. I am the principal investigator of the STEADY-CAN (Stockholm Early Detection of Cancer) cohort, which combines primary care data with national and regional health registers and laboratory data to study early cancer detection before referral.
My research focuses on diagnostic uncertainty and risk stratification in primary care. Using longitudinal real-world data, I study how symptom trajectories, healthcare use, and laboratory patterns relate to time to cancer diagnosis and outcomes. I also work with clinical data beyond registers, including evaluation and implementation of diagnostic technologies (e.g., large-scale teledermoscopy in Stockholm) and trigger-tool–based medical record review to improve diagnostic safety and identify missed opportunities for timely diagnosis.
In addition, I am involved in studies on early lung cancer detection that combine symptom questionnaires with biomarkers. My aim is to generate evidence that can be translated into practical decision support and better diagnostic pathways in primary care.
