About me

  • I am a PhD student at Department of Clinical Science, Intervention and Technology (CLINTEC), Karolinska Institutet. I am doing a register-based epidemiological project to investigate the risk for and consequences of elevated transaminases and metabolic dysfunction associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD, the previous term was NAFLD) in children and adolescents with obesity.

  • PhD supervisors: Emilia Hagman, Thomas Casswall, Pernilla Danielsson Liljeqvist, Claude Marcus.

    Education:
PhD student in medical science, Karolinska Institutet (2021 - now)
MSc with major in nutrition, Karolinska Institutet (2019 - 2020)
MSc in epidemiology (clinical epidemiology track), University of Indonesia (2014 - 2016)
Medical Doctor, University of Indonesia (2004 - 2010)

Research

  • I enjoy working with epidemiological data with clinical relevance. Particularly, in my doctoral project I mainly use the Swedish Childhood Obesity Register (BORIS, e-boris.se) linked with several Swedish national register to identify:
    1) Subgroup of children and adolescents with obesity at the greatest risk for elevated transaminases
    2) Risk and protective factors for MASLD in paediatric obesity
    3) The association between perinatal factors (small for gestational age and preterm birth) and increased cardiometabolic risk in paediatric obesity
    4) MASLD in paediatric obesity as a risk factor for young-onset type 2 diabetes
    5) The association between paediatric obesity and adults severe liver disease

Other than the doctoral project, together with the research group, I have also utilised BORIS and the register linkage data to elucidate:
    1) Growth velocity pattern in children with obesity differ from children in general population, and also differ by obesity class.
    2) Obesity treatment response in childhood affect the adults risk of mortality and obesity-related morbidities.
