About me

  • I am a medical doctor trained in obstetrics/gynaecology and a PhD student at
    the Department of Global Public Health.
    In my previous work I have led the maternal and newborn health
    project, /Improved Maternal and Child Health/ (IMCH) of the /Tanzanian
    German Programme to Support Health/ (German Development Cooperation) in
    Southern Tanzania. In addition to this I was as a Clinical Lecturer
    at /Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine/ (LSTM).
    I have clinical, research/project management experience from countries such
    as Germany, Tanzania, Kenya, Malawi, Ghana and Burkina Faso. My passion is
    underpinning implementation of evidence-based practice with solid research
    and monitoring & evaluation methods, especially using qualitative methods
    from medical anthropology.
    I enjoy writing peer reviews for scientific journals on topics like maternal
    and newborn health, reproductive health and visualizing data and
    information.

Research

  • My research project connects the improvement of quality of care and reporting
    of routine health data in the area of maternal and newborn health, combining
    a variety of qualitative and quantitative research methods. The project is
    part of the ONGEZA-Project and the Horizon 2020-funded ALERT-Project (Action
    Leveraging Evidence to Reduce Perinatal Mortality and Morbidity in

Teaching

  • I am passionate about teaching international students from various
    backgrounds and hold a certificate in /Supporting Learning/ from
    the /Staff and Development Association/, UK.
    At Karolinska Instituet, I lecture on /health service delivery and the
    health workforce and on Health Information Systems /for the MSc
    Course /Health policy, management and economics/ (3GB014).
    I contribute to the Module /Research management/ of the MSc course
    in /Public Health Science /and to the module Maternal and Child Health of
    the MSc course in /Global Health /(3GB013)/./
    Previously, I have taught on various courses at MSc and diploma level at
    LSTM, such as the MSc in /Public Health/ and the Diploma in /Tropical
    Medicine and Hygiene/.
    I was the course director of the Diploma in /Sexual and Reproductive
    Medicine for Developing Countries/.
