About me

  • I am the former head of the Vascular Surgery Research Group (SOSVASC) at Department for Clinical Science and Education at Södersjukhuset  founded in 2015.  The group is now headed by ass prof David Lindström. We conduct projects on cardio-vascular disease. The research has a strong clinical focus evaluating the results of both established and new therapies as well as basic science. Members of the group have participated in a number international and national of randomised clinical trials (RCT's). Most of the clinical research is associated with arteriosclerosis and degenerative vascular disease. The clinical department of Vascular Surgery, Södersjukhuset, is the second largest unit in the country. Research is focused on national, scandinavian and international clinical trials, but there are also projects in basic science. 

     

    Simultaneously I have conducted research on cutaneous malignant melanoma. In two RCT's published in The Lancet we studied over-all survival in relation to surgical excision margins (2 or 4 cm) in patients with high risk primary melanoma.

    • Aortic dissection: Outcome, QoL natural cause. Sunday Trial,
    • Thorasic Outlet Syndrome: QoL and outcome on patients with primary subclavian thrombosis treated with thrombolysis and first rib resection.
    • Aortic aneurysm: Renofix Trial,  
    • Carotid disease: Completion techniques. GALA, ACST 1,  ACST 2,
    • Limb ischemia: SWEDEPAD Trial, NEJM

     

    • Cutaneous Malignant Melanoma: RCT's  Short- and long-term follow-up-up at 6, 7 and 19, 6 years respectively.
