Research

  • Broadly, my research interests are in the relationships between environmental and genetic/epigenetic factors in disease development. My current project focuses on how genetic and environmental factors contribute to schizophrenia and bipolar disorder using data from the Swedish national registers.

My PhD research centered on the developmental origins of health and disease (DOHaD) hypothesis and examined how early life environmental exposures impact the risk of subsequent obesity. Most of my research involves the integrated analysis of large, longitudinal cohorts to investigate environmental and social risk factors and genetic biomarkers of disease. In my previous projects, I have examined various exposures and epigenetic changes in the development of several cancers, and Alzheimer’s disease.

Teaching

  • My teaching experience is in topics related to medicine and health, including biomedical sciences, precision medicine, obesity and nutrition, epidemiology, and psychiatric disorders.
