About me

  • I am a resident doctor in neurology at Karolinska University Hospital and affiliated researcher at
the Department of Clinical Neuroscience, Karolinska Institutet. My research focuses on the
immunological mechanisms driving autoimmune neurological diseases like multiple sclerosis and translating these finding into clinical tools.

Research

  • My former PhD-project "Identification of novel autoantigens in multiple sclerosis" centered around the pathological autoreactive T cells and their target autoantigens in multiple sclerosis. By using novel T-cell reactivity platform developed during the project, we identified previously unknown autoantigens and characterized the heterogenous autoreactive profiles in persons with MS. Additionally, we demonstrated a mechanistic link between Epstein-Barr virus infection and MS developement via molecular mimicry between the EBV antigen EBNA1 and the autoantigen CRYAB.

The long term aim is to utilize the individual autoreactive profiles to improve diagnostic and prognostic tools, leading to better healthcare for persons with MS.
