Martin Söderberg
About me
Martin Söderberg is a sociologist and research affiliate at the Department of Neurobiology, Care Sciences and Society. He has a PhD from the University of Vienna in Austria, and a Master’s degree in social science from Lund University in Sweden. His profession has for twenty years been within the Swedish Migration Agency and the Swedish Prison and Probation Service. Martin has extensive fieldwork experience from Sub-Saharan Africa and the Middle East. Since 2022, he is a member of the research group Global Health and Sustainable Development at Karolinska Institute. Coordinates the subgroup Multidisciplinary Uganda Studies. Current research collaboration with the Global Health Research Group at VID Specialized University, Oslo.
Research
Besides the topic of immigrant and refugee health, Martin Söderberg is committed to the academic field of African studies, i.e. primary education and sustainable development in East Africa and the Horn of Africa, as well as politics and public policy, including security and armed conflict research. In addition, he has research interests that pertain to occidental social theory, criminology, gender, and political science.
