  • Martin Köhler is Research specialist at Department of Molecular Medicine and Surgery within the field of Diabetes research. His research is particularly focused on pancreatic islet physiology and methods to monitor this.

    Methods include multiple modalities of light microscopy like confocal, multiphoton and widefield fluorescence microscopy for in vitro and in vivo monitoring. He is also working on projects for development of new techniques.

    Research projects focus on pancreatic islet functions like dynamics of cytoplasmic calcium that is tightly associated with the function of the pancreatic beta cells.
