About me

  • I am currently working on projects looking at how we can detect sickness in others based on how the look, smell and sound.

Research

  • I am curious about the interactions between behavior and attitudes (psychology), the brain and body (neuroscience), and the immune system. I am currently working on projects looking at how we can detect sickness in others based on how the look, smell and sound. In my PhD thesis, I looked at
the role of body odor disgust sensitivity and disease avoidance in understanding social attitudes.

Teaching

  • Teaching R programming
I am doing my best to spread the ability to code among students at all levels. Mostly, I do it using R as it is a very useful programming language for scientific purposes and it has a user friendly interface (RStudio).

    Teaching Statistics
Statistics are hated by some, loved by others. I think knowing your tools lets you understand the science you do and the questions you want to ask better. In my teaching I try to focus on estimation and understanding the effects rather than focusing of hypothesis testing and black-or-white decision making.
    Courses:

    Teaching about prejudice
Since 2022, I have been giving a course on "Psychology of Prejudice: A Social and Cognitive Perspective" that I designed myself. It covers a broad range of prejudice-related topics, aiming to increase understanding of how negative attitudes towards others arise and what can we do to counteract them.
