About me
- I am Associate professor (Docent) in Occupational Therapy and Assistant Senior Lecturer at the Occupational Therapy Programme at the Division of Occupational Therapy at Karolinska Institutet. I am also a researcher in the Nordic Brain Network (NBN), and the Health in Everyday Life among people with Neurological Disorders (HELD) at KI.
1992-1996 Bachelor of Science (BSc) in Occupational Therapy
1999-2002 Master of Science (MSc) in Occupational Therapy
2005- 2011 Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Occupational Therapy
2011-2015 Postdoctoral studies in Occupational Therapy
Research
- In my doctoral research the focus was on the concept of participation in everyday occupations among persons with stroke in Iran and different factors influencing participation using both quantitative and qualitative methods. In that research project an occupational perspective was applied where the last synthesis in the thesis produced and highlighted some socio-cultural aspects on the concept of participation to use both nationally and worldwide. In line with that special focus on the concept of participation in everyday occupation, my postdoctoral research has followed the same research line with intentionally expanding my focus in research to the concept of environment (i.e. everyday technology use, living context, and culture) and its relation to participation and also extending the study group to persons with acquired brain injury (ABI) and cognitive impairments (e.g., dementia). I am currently inloved in research research focusing on persons with dementia and elderly working mainly with two research groups:
1) The Nordic Brain Network (NBN) research group led by Professor Miia Kivipelto, MD., PhD (Ageing Research Center and Division of Clinical
Geriatrics, Department of NVS, Karolinska Institutet) with the focus on the field of dementia and Alzheimer’s disease research, the related risk
factors and prevention. The NBN has collaborations among Nordic countries with the members who are primarily working in Sweden and Finland. The NBN is an international research group communicating with international researchers from various countries in the world. Nordic Brain Network | Karolinska Institutet (ki.se) [1]
2) The Health in Everyday Life among people with Neurological Disorders (HELD) research group led by Professor Susanne Guidetti, OT, PhD (Division of Occupational Therapy, Department of NVS, Karolinska Institutet) focusing on enabling participation and health in everyday life among persons at risk or with neurological disorder (e.g., stroke).
