Kenneth Färnqvist

I graduated from Karolinska Institutet in 2013 with a degree in physiotherapy. I later changed my professional title from the former Swedish designation sjukgymnast to fysioterapeut (physiotherapist). My clinical work has primarily been in primary care, but I have also worked in sports medicine within handball and football at different competitive levels.

My interest in research grew while completing my Master’s degree in Sport Science at Linnaeus University. During my thesis project, I contacted a researcher at Monash University, and we have remained collaborators ever since, continuing to publish research together.

I subsequently changed research fields entirely and completed my PhD in 2026 in Pernilla Lagergren’s research group, focusing on health-related quality of life in patients with oesophageal and gastric cancer.

I am currently a project manager at HTA Region Stockholm. My work involves systematic reviews as well as comprehensive health technology assessments covering clinical benefits, risks, health economics, and ethical aspects to support healthcare prioritisation and decision-making.

I have broad research interests and remain involved, to varying degrees, in research within sports medicine, meta-research, and oesophageal and gastric cancer.
