About me

  • I was trained with a BSc degree in Nutrition Sciences from Centro Universitário São Camilo - São Paulo, Brasil (2014). I then moved to Portugal, where I obtained an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Beira Interior, Covilhã, Portugal (2019), and later was awarded a PhD in Health Sciences (2025), working at the ICVS research institute at the School of Medicine - University of Minho under the supervision of Dr António J, Salgado and Dr Adina T, MIchael-Titus. During my PhD training, I developed molecular priming strategies to increase the regenerative potential of human stem cells for central nervous system disorders. More recently, I acquired postdoctoral training under the guidance of Dr António J, Salgado and Dr Nuno A, Silva at ICVS, where I studied the role of polyunsaturated lipids in the modulation of stem cell function, with a particular focus on spinal cord injury regeneration, combining techniques such as advanced microscopy, functional assays, and OMICs (transcriptomics and proteomics) coupled with in-vitro and in-vivo preclinical modelling studies. In 2026, I relocated to the laboratory of Prof Alessandro Furlan in the Department of Neuroscience at Karolinska Institutet to acquire further postdoctoral training in circuit neuroscience and the brain-body mechanisms controlling whole-body metabolism.
