About me

  • Both my clinical and scientific career started in the field of
    cardio-thoracic surgery. The main focus of my early research was to analyse
    and to better define perioperative myocardial infarction in association with
    coronary artery bypass surgery. After switching my clinical and research
    focus to vascular surgery, I have kept an interest in studying the effect of
    surgery on the heart. Most of my recent scientific work deals with thoracic
    aortic disease, particularly aortic dissection.

Research

  • My research on thoracic aortic disease so far was mainly carried out at
    Uppsala University and at the University Hospital, Zurich, Switzerland. I
    have an ongoing collaboration with the two centres. My current projects are
    at large conducted in cooperation with members of the STAR network at the
    Karolinska Institute.
