Henry Bode

I am a German medical doctor affiliated with the Aging Research Center (ARC) at Karolinska Institutet. Since June 2024, i am working with Assistant Professor Ingrid Ekström (PhD) on studies from the NEAR network, exploring the link between olfactory dysfunction and depression. Initially, i came into contact with Dr. Ekström via the RISE scholarship, funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). 

Next to my research at KI i am also employed as a resident doctor at the Department of Psychiatry and Psychotherapeutic Medicine of the University Hospital St. Pölten. Previously i was employed at the Department of Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychotherapy of the Hannover Medical School (MHH).

In December 2025 i finished my doctoral degree in medicine at my alma mater, the University of Cologne, Department of Psychiatry, for which i meta-analytically investigated the association between thyroid disorders and depression. Meta-analysis and epidemiology, especially involving psychiatric conditions, have since been primary focus of my research activity.
