About me

  • Leading research projects aimed to develop new therapies for Heart Failure (HF) and cardiovascular diseases (CVDs) using the state-of-the-art methodologies in preclinical research to assess cardiac function both invasively (PV-loop) and not invasively (echocardiography) in small and large animal models of HF and CVDs. Investigating at cellular level the excitation-contraction coupling by measuring Ca2+ signaling and electrophysiology in cardiomyocytes.

  • The research activity is carried out through collaborative work between different research groups located within and outside Karolinska Institutet.

Research

  • Research focused on investigating the molecular mechanisms and pathophysiology underlying heart failure,

  • ischemic heart disease,
  • diabetic and inflammatory cardiomyopathies. The aim is to uncover novel therapeutic targets enabling the development of therapies able to modulate cardiac inotropy, fibrosis and inflammation.

Teaching

  • Lead teacher of Cardiovascular module in Translational Physiology and Pharmacology Master program (MTPP) and lead teacher of Cardiovascular pharmacology in project work in Translational Physiology and Pharmacology.

Teaching Physiology, Cardiovascular Pharmacology and local anesthetics classes to medical, biomedicine and undergraduate students.
