About me

I am an Associate Professor in cancer epidemiology and since 2015 head of undergraduate studies at the Department of Medical Epidemiology and Biostatistics. My research addresses the etiology of prostate and testicular cancer with special focus on genetic determinants.

Research description

My main research interest is in the field of genetic epidemiology of prostate and testicular cancer. These efforts build on genomic assessments of large study populations of prostate and testicular cancer in collaboration with international research groups. Both genome-wide assessments of common genetic variants as well as whole exome sequencing of rare coding variants are applied. For prostate cancer, determinants for aggressive and lethal disease are of particular interest and through the international PRACTICAL consortium we have access to over 60 000 prostate cancer patients to pursue these efforts. For testicular cancer we are part of the TECAC consortium enabling large-scale genomic assessment of this rare disease.
