About me

  • I am a resident doctor in Family Medicine and a doctoral student affilated with the Division of Family Medicine and Primary Care and with Aging Research Center (ARC) of Karolinska Institutet.  I hold a medical degree from the Department of Medicine, University of Ioannina, Greece. I started my doctoral studies at KI in 2023 with funding from Region Stockholm's program for Forskar ST (research residency program). My journey in research started at APC (Academic center for Primary Care) within the Horizon 2020 consortium called LifeChamps. However, small steps into research were taken right after my graduation in the University of Ioannina.

Research

  • My research focuses on assessing and monitoring the health of older adults to enable early and preventive interventions in primary care. I am particularly interested in understanding the multidimensional nature of health and aging, and in exploring how this knowledge can support clinicians in identifying and assisting patients with complex needs.

My previous work on the health-related quality of life of older cancer survivors, combined with my clinical experience as a family physician, inspired me to pursue a PhD position. I am currently funded by Region Stockholm through a stipend within the framework of the Research Medical Residency in Family Medicine (Forskar-ST i allmänmedicin).

My doctoral studies encompass a broad range of research approaches—including aging epidemiology, qualitative methods, and implementation science—providing a strong foundation for my development as a primary care researcher in the field of gerontology.

My ambition is for my research to inspire clinicians, communities, and policymakers to promote strategies for healthy aging, moving beyond ageist attitudes and assumptions about the health of older adults.

Teaching

  • My teaching activities focus on clinical skills training for medical students and the scientific review of articles for early‑career physicians.
