About me
Postdoctoral researcher in the division Clinical Physiology, Department Laboratory Medicine located at KI campus Flemingsberg. My research focuses on the impact of exercise on the immune system in health and disease.
Education:- PhD - Queen Mary University of London
Vaccinia virus modification for improved immune cell infiltration using oncolytic virotherapy - BSc and MSc in Biomedical Science - Ghent University
Major cancer
- PhD - Queen Mary University of London
Research
Projects:
- The role of the multidisciplinary PREFERABLE consortium which established a multi-national clinical trial for breast cancer patients, studying the effect of exercise on their quality of life, as well as biological outcomes. The PREFERABLE study focuses on the impact of exercise on fatigue and quality of life during and after a supervised 9-month exercise intervention. Our role in the project is to unravel the impact on the immune system in terms of plasma proteins and immune cell populations.
https://www.h2020preferable.eu/ - Immune cell characterisation and proteomics in samples derived from patients with long-COVID who participated in an exercise intervention
- Impact of exercise on immune cell signalling cascades
Personal interests:
Exercise physiology, prevention and early detection of cancer, liquid biopsies, extracellular vesicles, nutrition
