David Valero Calvo

I received my BSc in Chemistry from the University of Cádiz (Spain) in 2020 and completed my PhD in Analytical Chemistry at the University of Oviedo (Spain) in 2025. During my doctoral studies, my research focused on the development of bioanalytical electrochemical platforms for decentralized diagnostics.

As part of my PhD, I completed a research stay at the Andrew and Peggy Cherng Department of Medical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology (Caltech, USA), where I worked on wearable bioelectronic devices for the analysis of biomarkers in sweat, with applications in real-time health monitoring and early disease detection.

I am currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Dermatology and Venereology Unit, Department of Medicine, Solna (MedS), Karolinska Institutet, Sweden. My research focuses on developing wearable and minimally invasive bioelectronic technologies for early diagnosis, personalized health monitoring, and improved patient care.

By integrating bioengineering with translational medicine, my research aims to bridge the gap between technological innovation and clinical application. I am particularly interested in translating emerging diagnostic technologies into practical solutions through collaboration with clinicians and industry partners with the ultimate goal of translating innovative diagnostic technologies into clinical practice and making them accessible to the wider population.
