About me

  • David Valero Calvo received his BSc in Chemistry in 2020 from the University of Cádiz (Spain) and a PhD in Chemical, Biochemical, Structural Analysis, and Computational Modelling in 2025 from the University of Oviedo (Spain). During his PhD at the Nanobioanalysis Group, Department of Physical and Analytical Chemistry, his research focused on the development of bioanalytical platforms for decentralized diagnostics.

He also completed a research stay at the Andrew and Peggy Cherng Department of Medical Engineering at Caltech (USA), where he worked on wearable and flexible biosensors for the analysis of biomarkers in body fluids, with applications in real-time health monitoring and early disease detection.

He is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Dermatology and Venereology Unit, Department of Medicine, Solna (MedS), Karolinska Institutet (Sweden). His research focuses on the development of wearable bioelectronic devices for point-of-care diagnostics, with emphasis on dermatological applications. His current work includes the design and evaluation of wearable sensors for the early diagnosis and continuous monitoring of inflammatory skin diseases.
