Christian Mannfolk

I am currently a PhD student at Karolinska Institutet and a resident physician ("ST-läkare") at Psychiatry Southwest, Stockholm Healthcare Services, Region Stockholm located at Huddinge Hospital.

I have been active in research at Karolinska Institutet since 2017. Furthermore, I have several years of experience with psychiatric care and psychiatric diagnoses as a physician and a support person for people with psychiatric diagnoses ("boendestödjare").
I have personally received grants from Ingrid & Fredrik Thurings stiftelse, the Association for Treatment of Sexual Abusers (ATSA) and Stiftelsen Professor Bror Gadelius Minnesfond.
I acquired my medical degree in January 2021 from Karolinska Institutet.

My PhD is mainly confined within the PRIOTAB project, focusing on neuroimaging and neuropsychological markers in pedophilic disorder and treatment effects from GnRH antagonism. The overarching goal of my research is to provide understanding of neurobiological underpinnings of the disorder and effective treatment in the hope of working towards objective biomarkers that can be used for treatment prediction and evaluation, and possibly also risk assessment.

I am also part of the working group for the new planned pharmacological intervention study for men at high risk of committing sexual offenses with a sexual psychiatric disorder, tentatively called PREVENT-MED.
