About me

  • I am a licensed psychologist and clinical researcher specializing in behavioral medicine interventions. My research primarily focuses on digitally delivered psychological treatments for individuals with somatic diseases and disabilities, with the aim of improving functioning and quality of life.

I completed my PhD at Karolinska Institutet with a thesis on internet-delivered Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for adults with chronic pain. My ongoing research includes a randomized controlled trial of digital CBT/ACT for adolescents with chronic pain, with a particular focus on the role of parents. The study also investigates Pain Science Education (PSE) as a stand-alone intervention.

As a clinical researcher, I work at the interface between academia and clinical practice. Clinically, I see patients with somatic conditions accompanied by psychological distress — such as chronic pain, heart-focused anxiety following a cardiac event or due to heart disease, PTSD after somatic or medical trauma, or psychological adjustment to chronic illness. I work with children, adolescents, and adults, as well as with family members (typically parents).

I am actively engaged in implementing blended care models in clinical settings, combining digital and face-to-face treatment formats, and in developing stepped-care models where digital interventions serve as the lower steps. The goal is to increase access to effective psychological care and optimize the use of healthcare resources.

In addition to my own research program, I am involved in studies examining CBT for atrial fibrillation, psychological treatment for patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD), and exposure therapy for injection phobia in children with somatic conditions requiring repeated medical procedures.
