About me

  • I am a professor and research group leader for the research group Innovative care at Medical Management Centre at the Department of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics (LIME).

    - Since October 2014- continuing: Investor Endowed chair, Professor of Innovative Care, Karolinska Institutet, Dept of Learning, Informatics, Management and Ethics, Medical Management Centre. This position is a joint position with clinical employment as University nurse, with special responsibility for strategic health care innovation at the Department of Development and Innovation, Karolinska University Hospital (in Swedish: universitetssjuksköterska, med särskilt ansvar för strategisk vårdinnovation, vid Utveckling och Innovation, Karolinska Universitetssjukhuset inom Stockholms läns landsting).
    - Leader for Core 4 Cancer and Palliative Care of the Karolinska Institutet-Umeå University Strategic Research Program for Health Care Sciences (SFO-V) responsible for coordinating and leading development of this research line

    Wurzel Clinic provided family, group and individual therapy for multi-drug abusers on both in- and out-patient basis. As a trainee, I worked as therapist 16-20 hours/week with both clinical and theoretical supervision.
    1984: Specialist in psychiatric nursing (Sweden)
    1986: Specialist in cancer nursing (Sweden) First specialist education course for cancer nursing in Sweden
    1993: Doctoral Degree Thesis title: “Making Sense of Sickness Experience: Cancer patients’ perspectives on their sickness and care in urban Sweden: Aspects of relevance for nursing”. Includes thesis and 4 accepted/publised peer-reviewed articles + one manuscript

    ACADEMIC HONOURS, AWARDS AND PRIZEA
    - 1987 Recipient of award from Swedish Union of Health Care Professionals, Division for Medical Radiology and Oncology to study provision of psychosocial care for cancer patients in Finland and Norway
    - 2003 Recipient of “Birgitta Bloms Stipend” from Swedish Heart and Lung Foundation
    - 2008 Recipient of the Mebius Kramer Lecturer award. The Mebius Kramer Lecture was initiated in 1992 on the occasion of the retirement of prof dr Mebius Kramer, who was dean of the Academic Medical Hospital at Utrecht. Mebius Kramer lectures are given by distinguished nursing scientists who have made important contributions to and whose work has led to new and significant insights for nursing science.
