Carla Wikse Barrow
About me
I am a certified speech-language pathologist (Karolinska Institutet, 2018), with a PhD in linguistics (Stockholms University, 2024) and am currently employed as a Postdoctoral Researcher at the Division of Speech and Language Pathology.
Research
My postdoctoral research project involves developing a new curriculum for the Speech and Language Pathology programme at KI, in close collaboration with colleagues at the Division of Speech and Language Pathology and other stakeholders.
My research interests primarily involve Speech Sound Disorders (SSDs) in children as well as production and perception of atypical speech. I am currently involved in the SSD project and collaborate with researchers at the Department of Linguistics, Stockholm University on acoustic studies of child speech.
Teaching
- In charge of a development project concerning changes to the speech-language pathology programme
- Course coordinator for the course Advanced Seminars and Critical Review (6 credits, second-cycle/advanced level)
- Teaching activities regarding speech and language disorders and dyslexia in children and adolescents in the course Speech and Language Disorders in Children and Adolescents 2 (4.5 credits)
- Supervision of degree projects in speech-language pathology (30 credits, second-cycle/advanced level)
