About me

  • Core Facility Manager of the Brain Molecular Imaging Centre (BMIC) Researcher in the research Group Farde/Halldin working in the imaging field
with the technique Positron Emission Tomography (PET).

Research

  • My main research is using neuroimaging within neurodegenerative diseases mainly including Alzeimer’s Disease (AD) as well as other neurodegenerative disorders such as Parkinson’s Disease (PD) and Huntington’s Disease (HD). The main method used is Positron Emission Tomography (PET) using various biomarkers for Amyloid, Tau, and radioligands for neuroinflammation, etc.

My first years in PET research included the world first studies of in vivo amyloid PET imaging in mild cognitive impairment (MC) and longitudinal
changes of amyloid load in AD. I have after that continued AD research at the Karolinska PET center in Solna including several projects focusing on
evaluation and application of novel PET radioligands targeting amyloid and neuroinflammatory targets such as the Translocator protein (TSPO) in
microglia. Besides my focus on AD I have been and currently am involved in many other projects including studies of pathological changes in PD
investigating the serotonergic and dopaminergic systems and neuroinflammation, as well as developing novel radioligands targeting mutant
    huntingtin in HD.

During my 19 year long career within PET research I have become an expert in  data analysis and modelling of PET data in humans as well as non-human primates. As part of my work here at Karolinska Institutet PET center I have also worked extensively with project management of academic projects as well as collaborations with industrial partners. Therefore my involvement and tasks within this application is clearly connected to both my interests in the research fields as well as my expertise in PET data analysis and project management.

Teaching
