Anna-Klara Wiklund

I am a surgical resident at Södersjukhuset, where I have been working since 2022. I received my medical degree from Karolinska Institutet in 2019 and obtained my Swedish medical license in 2021. Since 2021, I have also been a PhD student at the Department of Medicine, Solna (MMK) at Karolinska Institutet under the supervision of Professor Jesper Lagergren.

I live in Stockholm with my family and spend most of my free time with my two young children, aged one and three, who keep life both joyful and busy. Alongside clinical work and research, I value time outdoors, music, family life, and maintaining a close connection between patient care and scientific research.

My research focuses on the association between Helicobacter pylori eradication and the subsequent risk of gastrointestinal cancers. Using large population-based cohorts, I aim to better understand how cancer risk develops over time following eradication treatment and how these associations may differ between cancer types and patient groups. By combining clinical experience in gastrointestinal surgery with epidemiological research, my work aims to contribute to a better understanding of gastrointestinal cancer development and, ultimately, provide knowledge that may inform future approaches to cancer prevention.
