About me

  • I am an affiliated researcher at Karolinska Institutet, CLINTEC, Division of Ear, Nose and Throat Diseases. Member of the research groups SCAPA (Scientific Center for Advanced Paediatric Audiology) and EDDiS (Early Development and Disorders in Speech/Language). I defended my thesis in 2020 in speech and language pathology at Karolinska Institutet and run several postdoctoral research projects.

During my time as a researcher, I have had the privilege of working with interdisciplinary projects which has been instructive and at the same time benefited the clinical implementation of the results for children who are deaf and hard of hearing. With a background as a teacher, I have a great interest in higher education pedagogy and in 2025 I received the Swedish Pedagogical Audiological Association's award for my pedagogical achievements in the audiological field: https://spaf.nu/utmarkelser/

Research

  • The starting point of my research is to create optimal conditions for children who are deaf and hard of hearing to develop their learning and well-being throughout life. My experience and research focus revolves around the youngest target group and the effect of early intervention in both the short and long term. I have a special interest in validating and evaluating the effect of new evidence-based methods and solving clinical challenges in the hearing habilitation services for patients 0-20 years. The questions that form the basis of my research most often arise in interprofessional collaborations. A further line of research that interests me is professional education and development and how this affects patients' conditions for optimal development.

Teaching

  • Supervising students since 2011, at all levels since 2022 (undergraduate to doctoral level). Teaches occasional lectures and examines students at KI in the audiology and speech pathology programmes. I am the founder and course teacher of the course "Evidence-based practice in audiology and hearing care for children and adults" (7.5 credits). Experienced lecturer at national and international conferences in the field of paediatric audiology. Course coordinator for Sweden's only clinical one-year education programme in Auditory-Verbal Therapy at Karolinska University Hospital since 2005. Mentor for doctoral students.
