Research
*Research interests*
Speech and language development in children with neurological disabilities
such as Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome and Intellectual Disability
Treatment of speech and language disorders in children with Cerebral Palsy
Babbling as a predictor of speech and language difficulties in children.
*Speech and language difficulties in children with Down syndrome, Cerebral
Palsy and Intellectual Disability*
Children with neurological disabilities present with an increased risk for
severe and long-lasting speech and language difficulties. In my PhD project I
examine speech and language development in a group of children with Down
syndrome, Cerebral Palsy and Intellectual disability from 1 through 7 years
of age.
*Babbling as a predictor of speech and language difficulties in children*
Earlier research has shown that studying the babbling of children might
inform on their later speech and language development. In order to properly
investigate this, reliable and relevant methods are needed. In my PhD
project, the validity of different babbling measures is evaluated.
*Treatment for young children with Cerebral Palsy and speech and language
difficulties*
Despite the fact that speech and language difficulties are common in children
with Cerebral palsy, there are few studies that evaluate treatment for young
children in this patient group. In my PhD project, I evaluate a
parent-implemented treatment for increasing vocabulary in children with
Cerebral palsy aged 2-4 years of age.
