Anna Björkdahl
About me
Anna Björkdahl is a nurse and researcher at the Centre for Psychiatry Research (CPF), Department of Clinical Neuroscience (CNS) at Karolinska Institutet. Clinically, she works as a development manager at Psychiatry South Stockholm within the Stockholm County Healthcare Region (SLSO).
Research
Anna's overarching research area focuses on the prevention and management of violence and coercion in inpatient psychiatric care from a nursing perspective. She employs both quantitative and qualitative methods, addressing current research questions often based on naturalistic research designs in clinical practice. Since most of her research is linked to systematic evaluations of clinical development projects, it is also influenced by implementation science, particularly aspects of implementation strategies and the measurement of fidelity to interventions.
Teaching
Anna is frequently engaged by universities and colleges to teach in nursing programs, particularly in specialist programs in psychiatric nursing. She also regularly provides teaching and training for healthcare professionals as part of the course offerings from the Centre for Psychiatry Research. Her subject areas of expertise include, among others: Prevention and management of violence and coercion in psychiatric care, Rapid tranquillization medication, Basic psychopharmacology, Sensory-stimulating relaxation rooms, Introduction to implementation science, and Qualitative methods.
