Division of Occupational Therapy

The division is pleased to see a continued increase in the number of applicants to the occupational therapist program. There are also other programs at KI where increases can be identified, but the most significant increase in the number of applicants among KI’s undergraduate programmes, compared to the application period for the autumn semester of 2023, is seen in the occupational therapy programme. The increase is 46%. Furthermore, the number of first-choice applicants has risen from 78 to 141 compared to the same period, marking an 81% increase.

Ann-Helen Patomella, senior lecturer, receives SEK 4,400,000 from the Kamprad Family Foundation for Entrepreneurship, Research & Charity for the project "Engagerande vardagsaktiviteter, livskvalitet och hälsosamt åldrande för hela befolkningen- Stroke prevention i primärvården" (Engaging everyday activities, quality of life and healthy ageing for the whole population - Stroke prevention in primary care). Professor Staffan Josephsson at the Division of Occupational Therapy receives SEK 4,810,000 for ”Utvecklande av narrativt baserade praktiker för ökad värdighet och delaktighet inom äldreomsorg”.

Hólmfríður Ásbjarnardóttir, student and digital ambassador at KI, has been awarded the Occupational Therapist Student of the Year 2023 award. Lena Rosenberg, professor at Jönköping University and affiliated to the the division of occupational therapy, receives SEK 5 000 000 in project grants for the project ”Särskilda boenden som teknologiska habitat – Digital teknik som stöd för medborgerlighet, delaktighet och värdighet för äldre som bor på särskilt boende”.

Lena Rosenberg, research group leader for the interdisciplinary research group Everyday Matters at the division of occupational therapy, receives SEK 4,979,000 in project grants for "Understanding the relationships connecting everyday life, care, and the physical environment in nursing homes – a new collaborative framework".

On behalf of the journal Medicinsk Vetenskap, chief editor Cecilia Odling interviews Susanne Guidetti on the topic of making a difference for stroke-affected people in their everyday lives.
