Linda Mellbin

Adjunct Professor of Cardiology at the Department of Medicine, Solna, as of 1 November 2025. Primary position: Senior physician at Karolinska University Hospital.

Linda Mellbin is interested in the interplay between cardiometabolic conditions, such as diabetes, blood lipid disorders and cardiovascular disease. Patients with diabetes have a higher risk of cardiovascular complications and a poorer prognosis. Her multiprofessional team studies different drugs for diabetes and blood lipid disorders and how they affect the risk of cardiovascular disease. By conducting clinical trials, epidemiological analyses and registry studies, they investigate the relationship between diabetes and different manifestations of cardiovascular disease, in particular coronary artery disease and cardiac arrhythmias.

The aim of the research is to improve the cardiovascular prognosis for patients by deepening the understanding of how cardiometabolic conditions can be prevented and treated.
