Leadership & Social Care: building on our strengths med Robin Miller - open for all
About the session
The contribution of leadership as an enabler of good practice in social services is well-recognised, but there is surprisingly little known about how best to encourage and support new and established practice leaders in this context. In this session Robin Miller, professor of collaborative learning at the university of Birmingham, will share insights from a Leadership Programme specifically designed to support practice leaders in social services. Based on strengths-based principles. developed with a stakeholder group of people with lived experience and practitioners and drawing on a wide network of research and practice leads, the programme provides a dynamic CPD learning experience over six months to enable participants to better understand their leadership behaviours and grow in confidence in their ability to improve outcomes for individuals, families, and communities. The programme provides insights into the unique challenges faced by leaders within a social service context, the benefits of taking a strengths-based approach, and how principles of diversity and social justice can be reflected within leadership development.
