- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science1 April 2025 - 31 March 2027"DNA microscopy," which reconstructs the spatial structure of molecules from the positional relationships between DNA fragments with unique sequences, is an innovative imaging technology that has emerged in recent years. In this research, we will utilize a nanoscale DNA array-based device developed by the applicant to improve the analytical accuracy of DNA microscopy, and apply the same method to perform multi-scale evaluation of the array-based device itself. Through collaborative research with the Karolinska Institutet in Sweden, we will work to improve the precision of error correction and coordinate recognition, aiming to establish a next-generation spatial molecular analysis platform that integrates the "observation" and "functionalization" of molecular arrays.
- Japan Society for the Promotion of Science28 June 2024 - 31 March 2027Bio-nanostructures designed using biomolecules are biodegradable and biocompatible, and are therefore used in a variety of fields, including functional materials, bioimaging, medicine, and vaccine development. In this study, we will combine research into the molecular evolution of self-assembling proteins with research into nucleic acid nanostructures to establish technology for constructing bio-nanostructures with precisely controlled structures within cells. This research will enable the creation of inexpensive and simple bio-nanostructures, and develop technology that will contribute to the development of a sustainable society.
