About me

  • I am a PhD student within the research group of Prof. Klas Blomgren, studying
the effects of radiotherapy on tumour microenvironment in paediatric brain
    tumours.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences with Honours from
Lancaster University, and a Master's Degree in Molecular Medicine from the
    Charité, Medical University of Berlin.

Research

  • During my PhD studies, my research is mainly focused on two projects:
    1. The effects of lithium on tumour progression in a mouse model of Group 3
    medulloblastoma.
In the course of this project, I have created an in vivo model of Group 3
medulloblastoma through an orthotopic injection of medulloblastoma cells. I
then used this model to study the effects of lithium and irradiation on
tumour growth and analysed it through whole-brain immunostaining and volume
    imaging techniques.
    2. Studies of inter- and intra- tumoural heterogeneity and tumour
    microenvironment in medulloblastoma.
In the course of this project, I analysed single-cell datasets from Swedish
medulloblastoma patients, comprising all four medulloblastoma subtypes. The
main goal of this study was to look into the individual genomic landscapes of
these tumours and the interactions between the tumour cells and their
microenvironment, to provide a more detailed characterisation of
different medulloblastoma subtypes and try to identify potential therapeutic
    targets.
